  • The hardest part of this was showing up.” -Adrienne S, New York, NY

  • “I usually go with a ‘You got this,’ ‘You’re a badass,’ ‘You’re not gonna die,’ or when all else fails, ‘I am, I can, I will, I do.’” -Todd K, Manalapan, New Jersey

  • “Not sure it’s a mantra but I often think, ‘I birthed a 9-pound, 13-ounce baby naturally. I can hold zone X for X minutes.’” -Amy R, Fredericksburg, VA

  • I am a titan!” -Stacey R, The Woodlands, TX

  • One day you will no longer be able to do this. Today is not that day.” -Natalia S, Oak Harbor, WA

  • “‘You have no idea what you’re capable of’ have become exceptionally important words for me.’ -Cari P, Goshen, Indiana

  • “‘No pain, no gain.’ ‘You get out what you put in’ comes a close second.” -Alfred S, Miami, FL

  • You can do anything for 30 seconds.” -Jeff P, Toms River, NJ

  • “‘Drop your shoulders, drop your baggage.’ I use that in life. I’ve used it professionally when prepping speakers at conferences. Used it with my kids. Use it with myself in stressful situations...Those sentiments just get me going.” -Susan W, Lake Geneva, WI

  • Don’t fight it. Invite it!” -Steve D, Long Beach, CA

  • I’m worth this effort!” -Heather B, Otis, MA

  • “‘This ain’t daycare’ from Alex Toussaint and ‘If Britney [Spears] can survive 2007, you can climb this damn hill’ from Cody Rigsby.” -Priya B, Barrington, Rhode Island

  • Boss up, crown straight.” -Erica B, Grand Junction, CO

  • “‘What if you can?’ In the toughest moments on rides, I have started muttering that to myself and the action of asking the question pushes me beyond my perceived limitations every time. I’ve also started using it in life, in hard moments, when things seem bigger than I’m capable of pushing through, I just ask myself those four words. It simplifies everything, breaks it down, makes it doable.” -Kelly V, Glen Rock, NJ
