You’ve made the commitment to ride—now it’s time to build the perfect setup. Whether you’re the proud new owner of a Peloton Bike (congrats, and welcome to the team!), contemplating the purchase, or looking for the perfect gift, turning your attention to accessories is the next logical step. While your Peloton Bike can do a lot on its own, adding a few key items is the best way to personalize your space and truly enhance your workout experience. Read ahead for a list of 15 essential Peloton Bike accessories sure to level-up all your workouts, from rides and stretches to strength classes.

Why Do You Need Peloton Bike Accessories?

Some Peloton Bike accessories may be just for fun, but others can truly transform your workout experience. Having everything you want or need within easy reach can make all the difference when it comes to performing your very best on each ride.

Knowing you can turn on a fan with a single flick can keep you riding longer and harder than you thought possible. Having light weights and a water bottle within reach can make the ride so seamless that you won’t miss one second of your workout. Tracking your stats with a heart rate monitor can help you optimize your performance and improve your fitness, whether for an upcoming race or to live a longer, healthier life. And placing a workout mat next to your bike makes it easy to transition from ride to strength, yoga, and stretching, or vice versa.

When you consistently enjoy your workout and feel great after a good ride, you’re much more motivated to continue the pattern, and show up day after day. Ultimately, that dedication and consistency is what drives your results. Accessories can’t crush your workout for you, but the right ones can certainly help you do so.

Peloton Bikes

Two bikes. One Peloton experience.

15 Must-Have Peloton Bike Accessories

Your exercise bike and organized home gym should be a refuge where you can invest time in yourself and step away from the world for a while. Peloton Bikes help you do just that, and the added accessories (all purchased separately) can make your me-time even more enjoyable. From absorbent sweat towels to snazzy cycling shoes, here are 15 Peloton Bike accessories you’ll benefit from having in your setup.

Towels

Whether you cue up a Low-Impact or Hit & Hills Ride, there’s a very good chance you’re going to sweat—making sweat towels an absolutely essential exercise bike accessory. You’ll need them to wipe away the sweat from both your brow and your bike.

Water Bottle

A Peloton water bottle in a list of Peloton Bike accessories.

You can use your favorite metal or glass water bottle to stay hydrated during your rides, but a lightweight, squeezable bidon-style bottle makes it easier to sip (or chug) water during quick breaks or between intervals—no fumbling with screw-on tops or wide bottle mouths. (Hey, there’s a reason pro cyclists use bidon bottles on their bikes!)

Cycling Shoes

This accessory is a must, since the aluminum pedals that come on a Peloton Bike require cycling shoes with Delta-compatible cleats. A comfortable pair with breathable fabric and a single hook and loop strap will help you power through your pedal strokes and slip them on and off easily for bootcamp workouts.

Workout Clothes

For the most comfortable training sessions, you’ll want to wear workout clothes that wick moisture away from your body and allow you to move freely. Check out Peloton Apparel for every layer you’ll need, from supportive sports bras and breezy short sleeves to warm-up jackets and high-performance socks. A great place to start? With these Cadent High Rise Pocket Leggings.

Socks

Don’t forget socks. (Yes, socks.) Good, high-quality socks can dramatically affect your comfort level during a ride. You might not think your feet sweat all that much, but a few minutes into a cycling class, and there it is! While you can’t stop the sweat, you can mitigate problems it can contribute to, such as blisters, chafing, and a general feeling of heaviness and moisture in your feet. Peloton instructor Matt Wilpers recommends wearing thin, light, and moisture-wicking socks—like this pair—with your cycling shoes.

Bike Seat

The Peloton Comfort Saddle bike seat as part of a list of Peloton Bike accessories.

The right-sized bike seat can make or break your workout. Since you’ll be sitting on it with each ride you take, it’s worth it to find a seat that’s comfortable for you. If you don’t find the standard Peloton Bike seat to suit your needs, give the Comfort Saddle—which offers extra padding and wider coverage—a try. (The comfort saddle is compatible with both the Peloton Bike and Bike+.)

Phone Tray

Looking for a place to stash your phone, earbuds case, or other items while you ride? Consider adding a phone tray, like this one compatible with the Cross Training Series Bike and Original Series Bike+, to keep your stuff safe. (Though, if you’d rather leave your phone far away and enter “do not disturb” mode every time you start a workout, we wouldn’t blame you.)

Fan

A Peloton fan as part of a list of Peloton Bike accessories.

A fan is one of the most understated—but important—bike accessories around. By keeping you cool during your workout, a fan can help you focus on the work at hand, rather than how much you’re sweating. This integrated, three-speed fan fits right onto your Bike screen, and is compatible only with Cross Training Series equipment. (The fan comes included with new Bike+, Row+, Tread+ purchases.)

Heart Rate Monitor or Smartwatch

A Peloton heart rate monitor as part of a list of Peloton Bike accessories.

Pairing a heart rate monitor, fitness tracker, or smartwatch to your Peloton Bike gives you the options to see your heart rate data in real time on-screen during your rides, allowing you to keep your effort in check and watch your fitness improve over time. With it, you’ll know when you should take it easy and when to let it rip.

Headphones

A pair of JBL X Peloton headphones with case as part of a list of Peloton Bike accessories.

Headphones or earbuds are a super important Peloton Bike accessory if your home gym is a shared space. While wearing a pair of earbuds like these, you can crank the audio during a ride or strength workout without disturbing anyone else in the household.

Handlebar Cover

You can drape a towel over your Peloton Bike handlebars for a little extra cushion and sweat-absorbing grip, but an innovative solution like this Gus Grip handlebar cover can further elevate your experience. Made of antimicrobial terry cloth fabric, this handlebar cover provides absorbency, cushion, and comfort, includes a phone holder and towel ring, and protects your equipment from filth and wear.

Light Weights

A pair of light Peloton dumbbells as part of a list of Peloton Bike accessories.

If you plan to cue up any Arms & Light Weights or Intervals & Arms classes, you’ll most definitely want to snag a pair of light dumbbells that fit perfectly into the rear weight rack on your Peloton Bike. Grab them in 1, 2, or 3 pounds.

Dumbbells

A pair of 15-pound Peloton dumbbells as part of a list of Peloton Bike accessories.

One of the best parts about the Peloton Cross Training Bike and Bike+ is the swivel screen; with a quick pivot, you can turn the screen to the side to take strength, bootcamp, and many other types of classes off the Bike. To build strength, you’ll need some dumbbells for squats, lunges, overhead presses, and more. These Peloton dumbbells are available in weights from 5 to 30 pounds.

Bike Mat

A black Peloton Bike mat as part of a list of Peloton Bike accessories.

Placing a mat under your bike can improve stability and to protect both your floors and your Peloton Bike. This mat was made specifically with the Peloton Bike in mind, fitting perfectly beneath your bike to catch any sweat and offering a flat, smooth riding surface.

Workout Mat

A reversible red and black Peloton workout mat as part of a list of Peloton Bike accessories.

If you’re only doing cycling workouts with your Peloton Bike or the Peloton App, you’ll be missing out on everything else your favorite instructors have to offer. (Not to mention, you’ll be neglecting to build a well-rounded fitness routine.) Lay out a workout mat beside your Bike to make the transition from ride to lift, stretch, flow, or dance cardio as smooth as can be. This reversible one offers dual surfaces so you’re prepared for any type of training.

Tips for Organizing Your Home Gym

Considering all the exercise bike accessories listed above, you may be realizing that there are  plenty of items you want in your home gym—and even more ways to organize it all. How you do so will depend on the room you have to work with and your personal workout preferences, but the below suggestions can help you create the perfect home gym you’ve always dreamed of.

Leave Enough Room for Your Bike

Peloton Bikes are compact, but you’ll want enough space to give it all during your ride. Peloton recommends you have at least 24 inches of space on all four sides of the Bike for storing and training, plus a minimum ceiling height of 8 feet to ensure you have adequate headroom.

Hang Accessories

Unless you have unlimited space in your home gym, you’ll need to store some of your equipment or supplies so that they’re easily accessible and yet don’t restrict your movement in the room. Hanging accessories like your cycling shoes, resistance bands, and towels on wall hooks or peg boards can help you store items within easy reach without sacrificing more floor space.

Use Storage Shelves or a Rolling Cart

If you have the space to install shelving units, that’s a great way to store all the equipment and accessories you might need. Floor-to-ceiling shelving, a bookshelf, cubes, or bins are great ways to create storage space and keep your workout essentials organized. If you need to store your items out of sight, you can also consider a rolling cart that can be scooted out of the way and into a closet or corner when you’re not working out.

Regardless of the area you’re working with, make sure you have enough room to move about it comfortably. You don’t need all the accessories, but the right ones can make or break your workout experience.
