There’s no better gift than good health, but a Peloton Bike ranks close behind. Just ask these moms, whose daughters surprised them with their very own Bikes. In addition to helping them reach their fitness goals, the Bikes have also brought them even closer to their generous daughters. Whether they’re taking rides together or sharing stories about favorite classes and instructors, these mother-daughter duos are proof that Peloton love runs in the family.

Leslie C.-G. & Shae S.

After purchasing a Bike for herself earlier this year, Shae (#sittinpretti29) surprised her mother, Leslie (#blessedangel), with one of her own. Leslie had just returned to their home state of Texas after being deployed to New York City to help fight COVID-19 as a chief nursing officer at the Javits Center.

“I was shocked and overwhelmed,” says Leslie while recalling how Shae knocked on her door and told her that her Peloton Bike had arrived. “My daughter is amazing and extremely thoughtful. This is the best gift anyone ever gave me!”

Both nurses, Leslie and Shae are as passionate about health and wellness as they are about Sundays With Love. “Peloton is more than just a Bike. It’s an experience,” Shae says. “We are both members of #BGM, and it feels like a sisterhood. Where else can you get a great workout and feed your soul?”

“It feels like therapy when I am riding,” adds Leslie, who is steadily working her way up to 30-minute rides. “This is something we can do together to support one another. It's better than talking on the phone.”

Kathryn S. & Kristine D.

“My mom was an inspiration for exercising throughout my life,” says Kristine (#RehabbingRunner) of her mother, Kathryn (#Gamimi). “She jogged as I was growing up and ran a half marathon (in her mid-60s) with my two younger sisters and I to celebrate my 40th birthday.”

When Kristine and her husband went out of town on a work trip last year, Kathryn stayed with their children—and fell in love with their Peloton Bike. (Luckily, Kathryn and Kristine wear the same size shoes!) As a holiday gift, and as a thank-you for more than 10 years of childcare help, Kristine’s husband suggested getting Kathryn a Bike of her own.

“I was beside myself with joy,” says Kathryn, a self-proclaimed “exercise nut,” reflecting on the moment her gift arrived. “I was so excited. They got me the weights and the shoes and the heart rate monitor and everything. I feel so blessed that they got it for me.”

Like her daughter, Kathryn now rides her Bike almost every day, and especially loves scenic rides and any class from Hannah Frankson, Leanne Hainsby, Ben Alldis, Matt Wilpers and Sam Yo. “The other day we were on the Bike at the same time, and I turned on the video chat so we could wave,” she says with glee. “Kristine almost doubles my output, but I’m 70, so I think it’s ok.”

The Illinois-based duo also have daily phone chats, and Peloton is always a topic of conversation. “We discuss which rides we are taking or have taken,” Kristine says. “And we recommend certain rides to each other. Once, over the winter when I was being grumpy about something, my mom suggested I go take Ally Love’s forgiveness ride again.”

Vickie H. & Jill D.

After moving her family into her parents’ South Dakota home while their new house was being built nearby, Jill (#basicBey), a former indoor cycling instructor, purchased a Peloton Bike so she could continue to get her cycling fix. “I had a feeling my mom would enjoy it, but she loved it even more than I expected,” Jill says. “When it was time for us to move into our new house, I thought that gifting her the Peloton Bike would be a good way to say thank you for everything she did while we lived with them.”

Her mother, Vickie, was excited and humbled to receive such a generous gift. “As a parent, we do what we can for our children and never expect anything in return,” she says. With her daughter cheering her on—and inspiring her Leaderboard name, #ucandoitmom—Vickie has become a devoted member of the Peloton community.

“I can’t thank Peloton enough for the inspiration and strength they have given me these last few years,” she says. “To think at age 62 I would start a new type of exercising and enjoy it!”

Peloton has been a bonding experience for the pair, who, naturally, have exchanged Peloton gear as Christmas gifts. “I’m sure my dad and husband are tired of hearing us talk about how much we love it,” Jill admits. “We talk about good classes we’ve taken, favorite instructors, new classes we’ve tried.”

Looking back on her decision to gift a Bike to her mom, Jill notes, “I think she was a little surprised and thought it was too much. I hope she realizes it was a small gift in comparison to everything she’s done for me.”
